Mary after the Ascension

## Mary after the Ascension: Her Presence and Intercession in the Early Church
Having pleased God by not revealing solemnly the mystery of human salvation until the promised Spirit had come, we see that before Pentecost, the Apostles “devoted themselves to prayer, with the women, Mary Mother of Jesus, and His brothers” (Acts 1:14), imploring Mary, through their prayers, for the gift of that Spirit who had already descended upon her at the Annunciation.
Finally, the Immaculate Virgin, preserved and immune from all stain of original sin, having completed her earthly life, was assumed bodily and spiritually into heaven exalted by God as Queen, thus more fully conformed to her Son, Lord of lords (cf. Rev 19:16) and conqueror of sin and death. (Light of the Peoples, 59)
To delve deeper into Mary’s role after Christ’s Ascension, we recommend Pope John Paul II’s encyclical *Redemptoris Mater*.
