The Rosary: The Prayer of Marian Contemplation

The Rosary, the Prayer of Marian Contemplation
The Rosary is the most widespread and most beloved Marian prayer of the Catholic tradition. It combines the recitation of the Ave Maria with the contemplation of the mysteries of the life of Jesus and Mary. For the full article: The Rosary of Mary.
Structure and Mysteries
The Rosary is organized into decades of Ave Marias, grouped into mysteries: joyful (Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, Presentation, Finding in the Temple), luminous (added by John Paul II in 2002: Baptism, Cana, Proclamation of the Kingdom, Transfiguration, Institution of the Eucharist), sorrowful (Agony, Scourging, Crowning, Via Crucis, Crucifixion), and glorious (Resurrection, Ascension, Pentecost, Assumption, Coronation).
Our Lady of Fatima and the Rosary
In each of the apparitions of Fatima, Our Lady asked for the recitation of the Rosary. The famous exhortation, “Pray the Rosary every day,” made this prayer inseparable from the message of Fatima. The Rosary is today prayed by millions of Catholics throughout the world.
