# Evangelization and Mary, the Mother of the First Evangelized## The Organic Relationship Between Mary and EvangelizationMary’s relationship with evangelization is organic: She was the first to receive the Good News (the Annunciation is the first evangelization in history), and she was the first to transmit it, running to Elizabeth with the Word Encarnate in her womb.## Mary: The First Disciple and MissionaryPope Francis, in his Exhortation *Evangelii Gaudium* (2013), presents Mary as the “star of evangelization” and a model of missionary discipleship. She welcomed the Word, allowed it to grow within her, and shared it freely. The Visit is the first missionary act: Mary brings Christ to Elizabeth, anticipating the mission of the Church.## Pentecost and MissionMary was present with the Apostles in the Cenacle on Pentecost (Acts 1:14). This detail is not insignificant: Her prayerful presence at the birth of the missionary Church indicates that evangelization always arises from an experience of contemplation and spiritual motherhood.## Mary and Mission to the GentilesIn the history of missions, Marian apparitions, particularly Our Lady of Guadalupe (1531), have played a remarkable role in evangelization. Within years of the apparitions, millions of indigenous people were baptized. Mary thus becomes an “evangelizer” in the full sense of the term.**Deepen your studies:** Explore Mariology, Marian Theology, Marian Apparitions, and a Postgraduate Degree in Mariology.## Church Teaching> *Filled with the Holy Spirit, Elizabeth exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”*
