Mary’s antiphons: “Remember, O Author of Salvation”

Choir singing in a cathedral

## Antífona mariana «Memento salutis auctor»: texto e significado

Remember, Author of our Salvation,
That once you assumed
the condition of our body, born
of a Virgin without stain.

Mary, Mother of Grace,
Mother of Mercy,
Protect us from enemies
and receive our hour of death.

Glory to You, Lord,
Who was born of a Virgin,
With the Father and Holy Spirit,
Forevermore. Amen.

You who are the Author of Salvation, remember that once you assumed the condition of our body, being born of a Virgin without stain.

Mary, Mother of Grace, Mary, Mother of Mercy, you protect us from enemies and receive our hour of death.

Glory to You, Lord, Who was born of a Virgin, with the Father and Holy Spirit, for evermore. Amen.

Memento, salutis auctor sung by Saint Francis of Assisi

The tradition of Marian antiphons at Christmas and in the liturgical celebrations of the Church is explored by Paul VI in his Apostolic Exhortation *Marialis Cultus*, which provides guidelines for integrated devotion to Mary within the celebration of Christ’s mysteries.
